Wyndham Vacation Ownership is currently seeking a Staff Accountant in Las Vegas, NV. This position is responsible for completing all accounting functions for resorts and/or HOA’s as assigned under the Wyndham Vacation Ownership umbrella. He/she will ensure the timely and accurate reporting of financial statements in conformity with GAAP while coordinating the general accounting function of the resort sites and providing useful information to the company's decision makers. This includes but is not limited to the following: completing monthly general ledger close activities: preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, budgets & forecasts, variance explanations, account reconciliations and various analyses as required. The position will submit key information/results to management in a timely manner and recommend actions to be taken that will result in adherence to budget.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Resort accounting and month end financial statements:
Prepare journal entries essential to building an accurate general ledger
Complete necessary accruals and reclassifications
Review Resort Financial statements. Work with Resort Manager and/or Accounting management team to solve any discrepancy or errors as necessary
Complete monthly variance reports, discussing all financial statement lines with material variances from budget
Work closely with resorts to create annual budget
Work directly with operational leaders as it relates to forecasting and P&L reviews. Identify accounting and internal control issues within the assigned business units directly and indirectly related to their forecast, develop action plans for resolution, communicate findings and assist in the action plans for resolution. Participate in operations and planning meetings as requested or assigned.
GL Balance Sheet Accounts:
Reconcile or Approve balance sheet accounts, as assigned, for all WorldMark, Canada, Club UDI, WRDC and HOA entities
Prepare reconciliation work papers for monthly review and audit
Complete the monthly general ledger close process to stay within the stated timelines.
Ad Hoc Reporting and Analysis required by management.
Develop process flows, identify process constraints and implement improvements to the Department.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance from Accredited College or University.
2 to 3 years finance or accounting experience working within a general ledger and supporting month end close and reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
Intermediate understanding of GAAP accounting
Proficient in Microsoft products, especially in Excel.
Able to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
Excellent professional communication skills, good organization skills, ability to multi-task & coordinate multiple projects.
Deadline conscious with strong drive, initiative and the ability to work well in time-sensitive situations.
Excellent strategic, analytical and creative thinking aptitude in both an independent and team environment.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, be well organized, perform under stressful situations and communicative effectively.
PeopleSoft, Monarch, Brio, and/or Business Objects experience preferred.
CPA or MBA desirable, but not required.
